Johnson Ranch Backflow Testing Group

Greetings JR Residents!

We are very sorry about GBRA’s sudden enforcement of state backflow rules but we’re eager and ready to help as you all navigate these new requirements. As a quick introduction, Seeger Water is a full service residential and commercial irrigation, plumbing, and backflow service company serving the Greater San Antonio, Greater Austin, and Texas Hill Country Areas. We have been in business since 1986 (originally known as Total Irrigation, then Seeger & Son’s Sprinkler Company, and now Seeger Water) and we are from right here in Comal County!

These backflow testing rules have been in place in Texas since 2009 and Seeger Water has been licensed and experienced since that time. We offer a full range of residential and commercial backflow testing and repair services. Our licensed backflow testers are trained annually and are individually licensed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Additionally, all of our testers undergo annual drug/alcohol testing and a comprehensive criminal background investigation. Seeger Water does not employ registered sex offenders for work in residential communities.

Throughout this process if any of you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please call or text us anytime at 830-624-9000 or send an email to backflow@seegerwater.com.

Thank you all!
-DJ Seeger, President

How This Group Backflow Testing Works

  1. First, you’ll use the form on this page (click on “Signup Online” button) and complete the form. This will add you to our list of homes needing a backflow test. After you submit the form, you will be redirected to a payment page for $60.00 (this test is normally $95.00).

  2. We encourage you to pay in advance, although it is not required. If you submit the signup form but do not pay, that’s okay - you will receive an invoice by email.

  3. Through the week of April 1-5, we will just be compiling this list and sorting out our testing route. We will begin testing on April 8th and we expect we will be testing throughout the month of April.

  4. Once we complete your backflow test, we will leave a flag at the backflow assembly (usually next to the water meter) so that you know we have been there. It will take a couple of days for us to complete the tests, fill out the reports and get them turned in to GBRA.

  5. After your backflow test is completed, we will email you a copy of your backflow test report and we will turn in the original to GBRA.

*Please note: the $60.00 test fee is for a single pass/fail test only. This does not apply as a credit towards repairs or a retest if the assembly requires a repair.

IMPORTANT UPDATES (Apr 19, 2024 | 1:46pm)

  1. We are doing our best to flag each backflow assembly as we test them. We have recently learned that several dozen flags we placed out had been removed by utility workers and neighbors. So if you don’t see a flag, it doesn’t mean we haven’t been there.

  2. We are asking for your patience, please. We have lots of customers with emergencies, leaks, and existing contracts we have to attend to at the same time that we are trying to get through the Johnson Ranch backflow testing. GBRA gave all of you until June 30th, so there is no urgency to get them done the same week you signed up.

  3. We have received several ugly phone calls and text messages from residents who didn’t get tested on the exact day that they thought they would be tested. If you are in a rush and want your backflow tested same day, please call another company. We have 400 JR residents to respond to - we can’t make certain people a special priority.
